The humorous, poignant story of a declining New England town and its inhabitants, whose lives are deeply rooted in and influenced by the Knox River and its vacant mills, their class differences, and ghosts of the past. Empire Falls is a saga which is set in New England town. While it depicts the crumbling of a blue-collar town which is dotted with abandoned mills, it also portrays the struggles of these uncommon settlers and the difficulties they face daily. The protagonist is a modest restaurant manager, Miles Roby who's trying very hard to run a diner, Empire Grill, in this failing neighborhood, also faces disappointment in this town.
